14a. Words around "Gordon" in Greek
NT Lexicon
Writing up all these evidences has been very emotionally and spiritually
taxing for me. It is so hard to believe that these things are really true. No
matter how obvious they get, when held up to the real world, somehow they seam
unreal.
Today (3/27/97) as I was reading through a couple of LDS-based magazines,
when I came across a picture of President Hinckley dedicating a Mormon
Battalion monument in Tucson, I thought to myself, "How could he possibly
be the anti-Christ? He's just a gentle old man -- an extraordinary one at
that, having accomplished an inordinate amount in his lifetime." He's 86
years old! In my human estimation, he has much more the bearing of a holy man
than of an anti-Christ.
I found my motivation greatly diminished for continuing this project of
writing a document called, "The Man of Sin Revealed," of all things,
with foreordained evidences pointing repeatedly to him. "Who's going to
believe this when it is so hard for me to believe?, and I have even been
immersed in the miraculous process of discovering these things." I not
only have the evidences in front of me, such as all may have, but I have also
lived the miraculous experiences involved in its unfolding; yet still it is
hard for me to believe.
It wasn't until near sundown when I finally sat down, took a deep breath,
and forged forward. "What should I do next?" I silently asked.
Having done President Hinckley's last name and middle name, the thought came
to look up "Gordon" in Greek. I had not previously done this.
Grabbing a scripture study printout nearby ("That the Curse of God Might
be Lifted"), I turned it over and wrote down the Greek characters that
would come closest to the spelling of "Gordon:" . In the process of
writing this document, I have nearly memorized the letters of the Greek
alphabet. Then I opened Strong's concordance to the Greek dictionary at the
back, and hunted for where that spelling would occur. When my eye caught the
approximate location, I was dumbfounded when I saw an entry I had previously
highlighted.
The following list of words and definitions surrounding the insertion point
of "Gordon" come from Zodhiates as well as Strong. Note the
juxtaposition of good versus evil in this sequence of words.

Though this evidence is perhaps the most direct of any we have looked at
thus far, why do I feel so exhausted? Why is my soul so weary? Is it because I
picture in my mind my fellow men whom I love looking at something even this
obvious and still refusing to see -- to even consider? Or is it because I
fret that if I am this weighed down having come this far in this study, how
can I expect that anyone else will want to read this far? What is the use of
pulling all this together if it will not accomplish anything beneficial? I
will be very glad when this project is complete.

14b. Words around "Gordon" in the
English Dictionary
(3/28/97) The word just prior to where "Gordon" would fit
alphabetically in my 1971 Webster's dictionary is the word Gordian.
Gordian: Pertaining to Gordius, king of Phrygia,
or the knot tied by him, and which could not be untied, but which was
ultimately cut by Alexander the Great; hence, the term Gordian knot
is applied to any inextricable difficulty; and to cut the Gordian knot
is to remove a difficulty by bold or unusual measures.
I find this word very timely, considering
this ordeal of "revealing the anti-Christ" through such elaborate
means.
Yet as soon as I use the word "elaborate," I think of how simple
the process really is. What does a person do when he or she doesn't know a
word? They look it up! All that is being added here to that very simple
process is looking at the words before and after. Anyone can do that! Even a
young eight-year-old just learning how to look words up in a dictionary could
to it.
I must suppose, therefore, that the struggle has not to do with technique
but with overturning false traditions, accepting new paradigms. It's the
Gordian knot in our minds and hearts that is the most difficult to unravel.
Whether we wish to admit it or not, each of us has enthroned an
anti-Christ in our hearts and minds, and the dethroning of that false god
will require a miracle in each of our lives. Reading these evidences alone
will not accomplish that task, it will only bring to your attention that there
is a task to be performed. Indeed, it will show you just how impossibly tight
the knot is tied and bring to your attention your inability to untie it. The
one who comes with the sword to cut through the knot is the Lord. How that
exorcizing takes place -- how that inextricably difficult task is
summarily resolved -- will be a matter you must take up with Almighty God
on your own.
But what is the fuss? What are we moaning for? Is there not something grand
and glorious in store for us at the end of this great trial? Have we not been
promised a reward beyond our most transcendent imaginings? Why should we be so
weighed down?
I am convinced that the new paradigm being set forth here is of ultimate
good, namely, of God. Who can fault the bottom-line admonition to place our
trust first and foremost in God, and to allow no man to stand in our place
before God -- even and especially when that man happens to be the
President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "the only
true and living church upon the face of the whole earth"(102)?
This quintessential element of the doctrine of Christ is what must be brought
"forth out of obscurity and out of darkness," so that the true
church of Christ -- rooted in Christ -- might go forth triumphant.
As the Savior said,
"If it so be that the church is built upon my gospel then will the
Father show forth his own works in it. But if it be not built upon my
gospel, and is built upon the works of men, or upon the
works of the devil [e.g. anti-Christ], verily I say unto you they have joy
in their works for a season, and by and by the end cometh, and they are hewn
down and cast into the fire, from whence there is no return." (3 Ne.
27:10,11.)
"Behold, this is my doctrine--whosoever repenteth and cometh unto
me, the same is my church.
"Whosoever declareth more or less than this, the same is not of me,
but is against me; therefore he is not of my church.
"And now, behold, whosoever is of my church, and endureth of my
church to the end, him will I establish upon my rock, and the gates of hell
shall not prevail against them." (D&C 10:67-69.)
At the heart of realizing the goodness of God is the requirement of the
mighty change of heart. And in the heart of that heart -- the inner
sanctum, the holy of hollies -- is an anti-Christ which must be dethroned
so as to make room for the One True God, even Jesus Christ, the Savior of the
world. His is the only name whereby man can be saved. He is the one sure
foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall. That is the foundation I
want, none other. Dear God, may it be so. I allow you to perform in me the
miracle that must be wrought to remove from my heart anything which is above
you. I want only you to reign as the Lord of my life. Please let it be,
through the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ. Work your miracle in me. Give me
your heart, the new heart.
No wonder the word after
1143 dakno: to bite [Bitner], sting [venom
(2447Gr); Hinckley]. Used metaphorically meaning to thwart [hinder;
Hinckley], vex, irritate.
(from above, after Gordon) is:
(+) 1144 dakru: A tear which flows from the eyes. In the
plural (Luke 7:38,44)(103) ; with the
meaning of weeping.
But God will never force us to come to him. We must make this choice
ourselves. Nevertheless, making the choice to refuse God will be answered, as
the folly of our fallen nature heaps upon our heads a torrent of horrendous
consequences. Hence,
(-) 1145 dakruo: To shed tears. Syn.:
(2799), to weep as a loud expression of grief especially in mourning for the
dead; (2354), to mourn formally, lament; (214), to wail; (4727), to groan.
This reflects the sorry lot that will be the reward to those who refuse the
grace of God extended to them, who choose to revere man more than God.
(-) 1146 daktulios: A finger ring given as a mark of
honor. Deriv.: (5554), a golden finger ring. [e.g. Earthly
kings & honors of men.]
But for the righteous, who overcome through faith on the name of Jesus
Christ, there is a different form of worship:
(+) 1147 daktulos: A finger. The finger of God.
"And the veil was taken from off the eyes of the brother of Jared,
and he saw the finger of the Lord; and it was as the finger of a man, like
unto flesh and blood.... And the Lord said unto him: Because of thy faith
thou hast seen that I shall take upon me flesh and blood; and never has man
come before me with such exceeding faith as thou hast; for were it not so ye
could not have seen my finger. Sawest thou more than this? And he answered:
Nay; Lord, show thyself unto me. And the Lord said unto him: Believest thou
the words which I shall speak? And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou
speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.(104) And when he had said these words,
behold, the Lord showed himself unto him, and said: Because thou knowest
these things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back
into my presence; therefore I show myself unto you." (Ether 3:6,9-13.)
"And in that day that they shall exercise faith in me, saith the
Lord, even as the brother of Jared did, that they may become sanctified in
me, then will I manifest unto them the things which the brother of Jared
saw, even to the unfolding unto them all my revelations." (Ether 4:7.)
