EPILOGUE

Before publishing this book {11/20/98 Note: I wrote the previous supposing this book would be officially published forthwith, but I have yet to find a publisher}, I circulated several hundred copies of the manuscript for several months among those who were interested. I have been fascinated to see the audience that this work has attracted.

The people who have expressed an interest in this work, sometimes even a passionate interest, have been the humble folk of the Church: those who have their food storage, who are involved in the struggle to preserve the remaining fragments of the Constitution, who cherish the scriptures and spend much time pondering them, who shun the worldly ways of our Babylonian society, who seek to raise their children in righteousness and recognize how difficult this is in an environment that constantly bombards them with satanic influences. Individuals who cling to the words of the living prophet and hold them close to their hearts -- they are the ones who have been drawn to this book. Having received many revelations and seeing many parallels between ancient and modern events themselves, the general concept presented in this book was not new to them. They were grateful that I had gone to such lengths to discover the number of parallels that I did. Any new insights that I may have brought out for them usually rang true to them and fit well into the understanding they had already so diligently obtained through their humble approach.

Very few of the institutional scholarly types expressed any interest my manuscript. They usually had more critique than praise, being unconvinced that the parallels are intentional. They wanted to see me cite non-examples (elements that do not fit a pattern) along with examples and weigh each parallel against the others as to its merits. Their purely scientific analysis indicates to them that in many instances I grasp desparagely to make comparisons where comparisons do not seem to be warranted by scholarly standards. They contended that one could make an ancient event fit any modern event if he twisted and cajoled it enough. These are often the same people who have explained away the messages spoken by our beloved Prophet concerning the Constitution and the threats that it faces, wanting to believe that all is well in Zion. They have yielded and even contributed to the mockery that is flung at those who stand up for truth and speak out against enemies of freedom.

People who fall in-between these two ends of the spectrum have not expressed interest in this work either. If they have not given themselves to a humble searching of the scriptures; if they have not sought to watch the events of the day and try to understand the warnings and admonitions of ancient and modern prophets; if they are caught up in establishing a niche in our Babylonian society; then they haven't had an interest in this manuscript. It is not easy reading to those unfamiliar with the scriptures. New concepts they encounter are easier ignored when they tend to be alarming. The relaxation that attends ignorance is much more comfortable than the urgent promptings of the Spirit that attend enlightenment.

I guess these varied responses are fitting for this book. The Lord has told us that to those who receive will be given more, until they receive a fullness; while from those who harden their hearts against greater knowledge, will be taken even that which they have. (Alma 12:9-11; 2 Ne. 28:29-30.) Those who love the Book of Mormon and strive to use it as it was intended, yearn for the greater things that are promised to come. (3 Ne. 26:9.) They appreciate the contribution that this book -- The Vision of All -- makes in pointing out that the parallels in Book of Mormon history are a preparatory bridge to the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon, which will clearly spell out that which the righteous will have already come to understand with an eye of faith. (Ether 12:19.) Those who will spurn at this book, with its strong focus on the word of God as revealed through ancient and modern prophets, most likely will be the same ones who will be cut off from the Lord's people in the day that He pours out His wrath upon the wicked. (3 Ne. 29:4-7; Alma 5:43-46; 12:12,13; Hel. 7:29; 8:3,4.)

Schopenhauer
All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
