THE VISION OF ALL, and how the name "Greater Things" came to be

Abstract: Announcement that The Vision of All is now fully on-line.   Story of landmark spiritual experience ten years ago witnessing that this concept is part of the "Greater Things" prophesied to come forth to those who receive that which they have already been given.

Hello friends of Greater Things,

I am very pleased to inform you that I now have completed the uploading of the entire book: "The Vision of All: Our Past, Present, and Future, as Foretold in Book of Mormon History," complete with navigational hyperlinks from one page to the next as well as general navigation guides. Now, thanks to the Internet, this book is being published to all the world. (Next phase, hard copy!)

It is a foundational work. I suppose that there is not a more complete, plain, and profound prophecy in all the writings of the world than the prophecy that has been tucked away in the history of the Book of Mormon, viewing it as a parallel for our own progression, both as individuals and as a civilization. My prayer is that all those who would benefit from this Vision of All will be able to find it. I am grateful for friends like you, who do your part in passing the word along to those who would find it of value as well.

Ten years ago at this time I was in this very same room of my Grandmother's home writing The Vision of All. That was in many regards the beginning of what has been a very invigorating journey of being a warrior for the Lord in championing very controversial and important causes. Here in this room where my Dad grew up, I had one of the most Spiritual experiences of my life: an epiphany that has forever altered the course of my life. Fittingly, the experience happened while I was talking to my Dad on the phone a decade ago.

I was in the beginning stages of the book, in which I was recording the various parallels. Day after day, there came a continual stream of inspiration as I pondered on what Book of Mormon event might parallel a given key contemporary event: past, present or future; and then began writing vigorously as the thoughts and scriptures came pouring into my mind.

"What title should I choose for this book?" was the question I was mulling over at that time. This was the setting for the phone conversation I had with my father, who was living in Boulder Colorado where he worked as a physicist with the Atomic Clock. He and I have been very close over the years, but were especially so during this period of time. I had gained much of my love of the scriptures from him. I'll never forget that time in my late teen years when he gave a home-teaching lesson to the Bakers, a couple we were assigned to visit, on the 29th chapter of Isaiah. It was then that I realized for the first time that Isaiah could actually be understood, and that the hour my Dad spent every morning studying Isaiah paid off.

Furthermore, I would ascribe largely to him my love of Music, as he filled our home with the majesty of wonderful classics. Here I am even now listening to Handel's Messiah as I write this, and it causes me to think of being home as a child.

So that morning when my Dad called, I was looking very much forward to sharing with him the most recent insight I had received regarding this book I was writing. I set the groundwork by mentioning the prophecies in the Book of Mormon of there being much more than what we now have. There are the statements that what we now have is but a hundredth portion of what could be written, and the promise that when we receive that which we now have, then will the greater things be manifest to us. (John 20:30,31; 21:25; III Nephi 26.) There is the remaining two thirds of the Book of Mormon which is sealed, to come forth at a future time. What we have now is but a translation of the first one third of what was in that stone box Joseph Smith extracted from the ground by direction of the Angel Moroni. Moroni described the contents of that record as being the vision which was given to Mohonri Moriancumr (the Brother of Jared) of everything from the beginning to the end. (Ether 3-5.) Hence, when Isaiah prophesied of the Book of Mormon in Isaiah 29, he called it "The Vision of All," which would come forth as a pivotal part of the great and marvelous work of the Lord. The reiteration of that prophecy in 2 Nephi 27 portrays this concept even more clearly, stating that this sealed portion will not come forth in the days of the wickedness and abominations of the people.

Next, I explained that what this parallel in Book of Mormon history amounts to is a preparatory Vision of All, sealed in the pages until now when the Lord has seen fit for us to see this Vision of All based in the parallels between the Book of Mormon history and our day, as well as its parallels to us as individuals as we endeavor in our own spiritual progression. "As such," I then concluded, "this book in and of itself is part of the 'greater things' prophesied to come forth."

As I said this, the Holy Ghost descended upon me and completely filled my entire being. I was melted in the outpouring of the glory, peace, and love that enveloped me, confirming undeniably the truth of what I had just said. Never before nor since have I had such a complete filling of the Holy Ghost.

For about five minutes, I was so overcome of the Spirit that I could not speak. I knelt on my knees in praise and worship of the Lord and basked in the testimony that was being burned into my soul.

That was ten years ago. Since that time I have only received more and more validations of the Spirit and of the word that these things are true -- not that there are no errors in any of the specific wordings or ideas -- but that the general idea of these parallels being intended for our day as a clear and timely prophecy is absolutely true and very important to our generation.

Of that I am certain, and to that end have I devoted my energies since that time. I have found parallel upon parallel in the very words of scripture, which both validate the general themes of The Vision of All as well as convey by their very form a testimony of the principle of parallels. Furthermore, since that time I have discovered numerious direct references to this work. Some of those are presented in various documents on this web site.

I bear solemn witness that this work is of utmost importance and that the people of God will be held responsible as to how they receive these things, either to their great blessing or to their being held back in their spiritual development. Those who oppose this work against the greater light which they have been given will have to answer to their Maker accordingly. (Ether 4:8.)

This work fulfills some very pivotal prophecies. May we be faithful in our stewardships pertaining to it, as we progress in our understanding of the mind and will of God.

Sincerely, your brother in Christ,

Sterling D. Allan
