Hearken ye ends of the earth to the great and marvelous work coming forth among the children of men, which has been kept concealed in a record long held among the people of my church, saith the voice of him who dwells on high.

Behold, I am God, whose eyes are upon all men; yea, verily I say, In this record shall I call my servant: a seer, a translator, a prophet, an apostle of Jesus Christ.

Therefore give heed unto my word which I shall cause him to bring forth, yea hearken and listen together, ye people from afar and ye that are upon the islands of the sea;

For my word is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow.

For behold, the field is white, and verily the voice of the Lord is unto all men, and there is none to escape the harvest.

Therefore, in this work of the harvest shall my servant be called an elder of the church.

Yea, whoso desireth to reap let him thrust in his sickle with his might, that in this reaping there be no eye that shall not see, neither ear that shall not hear, neither heart that shall not be penetrated, therefore reap while the day lasts.

And the rebellious shall be pierced with much sorrow; for their iniquities and secret acts shall be revealed and spoken upon the housetops;

While he that thrusteth in his sickle, though he may sorrow for the rebellious, will nevertheless treasure up for his soul everlasting salvation in the kingdom of God. And he shall also be called an elder of the church.

Yea, whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, opening his mouth with the voice of warning unto all people, the same is my disciple whom I have chosen: called of God in these last days through the will of God the Father;

And they shall go forth according to the grace of your Lord Jesus Christ, and none shall stay them.

Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive, being inspired of the Holy Ghost; yea, if you will knock it shall be opened unto you; for verily, I the Lord myself will command you.

Seek unto my Father, and it shall be done in that very moment what ye shall ask, if ye ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive:1

Now as you have asked, behold, I say unto you: This is mine authority, and the authority of you, my servants; this is the foundation to lay, and my preface unto the book of which I have spoken;

Yea, verily I say unto you: As you have asked and have received my commandments, so must ye keep my commandments;

And as ye have sought, even so do I give unto you to publish my word and bring forth and establish the cause of Zion unto the inhabitants of the earth, and to build it up unto the most holy faith.

Wherefore, seek not for riches, O ye people, but fear and tremble before the Lord;

Yea, seek for the wisdom that I the Lord have decreed in my word; and, behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you; yea, verily they shall all be fulfilled upon you.

And verily I say unto you, that they who go forth, bearing these tidings unto the inhabitants of the earth shall be made rich; for they shall be sealed up unto eternal life; and to them is power given to seal both on earth and in heaven. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich.

But verily, verily, I say unto you, the unbelieving and rebellious shall be sealed up by them unto the day when the wrath of God shall be poured out upon the wicked without measure.

Yea, verily, verily, I say unto you, even as you desire of me so it shall be done unto you; for the day cometh when the Lord shall come to recompense unto every man according to his work;

And, if you desire, you shall be the means of doing much good; and the Lord shall measure to every man according to the measure which he has measured to his fellow man; and this shall be fulfilled in this generation.

Wherefore the voice of the Lord, which is my church, saith nothing but repentance unto the generation that was organized and established in the year of your Lord eighteen hundred and thirty, in the fourth month, and on the sixth day of the month which is called April; and now it is unto the ends of the earth.

Therefore, open your mouths and they shall be filled, saying: Repent, repent, and prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths straight; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.2

Wherefore, meaning the church, keep my commandments, that all that will hear may hear: and according as ye have so earnestly prepared, assist to bring forth my work which is now come;

For the Lord is nigh, to whom thou shalt give heed, according to his commandments; yea, when he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh, the things which he shall say unto you shall ye observe to do.3

And you shall be blessed, for you shall be gathered into the garners, and shall not be wasted;4

For the anger of the Lord is kindled, and his sword is bathed in heaven, and it shall fall upon the inhabitants of the earth.

And the arm of the Lord shall be revealed, even my servant who hast a gift by which he shall bring forth my words and commandments.

And if ye shall receive his words which he shall give unto you, the day cometh that thou shalt have a gift also if thou wilt desire of me in faith, with an honest heart, believing in the power of Jesus Christ, or in my power which speaketh unto thee, which is how he receiveth them: even as if from my own mouth.

But they who will not hear the voice of the Lord, which they, themselves, could hear if they but desired of me,

Yea that neither have faith, with an honest heart, believing in the voice or power of Jesus Christ through his servants,

Yea that neither give heed to the words of my power which speaketh unto them through the prophets and apostles--shall be cut off from among the people:

For whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: and on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.5

For behold, it is I that speak; behold, I am the light which shineth in darkness, and by my power I give these words unto thee.

Therefore it shall come to pass that whosoever will not believe in my words, who am Jesus Christ, which the Father shall cause him to bring forth unto the Gentiles, and shall give unto him power that he shall bring them forth unto the Gentiles, (it shall be done even as Moses said) they shall be cut off from among my people who are of the covenant.6

For they have strayed from mine ordinances, and have broken mine everlasting covenant;

And now, therefore, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your trust in that true Spirit in mine ordinances, which leadeth to do good--

Yea, do justly, walk humbly, judge righteously, walking in all holiness before me, in all patience and faith;

And this is my Spirit even mine everlasting covenant.

For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you;

For verily, verily, I say unto you, I the Lord will impart unto you my righteousness by my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with joy.

They, on the other hand, seek not to establish my righteousness; refusing what I the Lord would impart freely unto them;

Yea, rather than hearkening to my Spirit, every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god.

Instead of receiving enlightenment of their minds, they chose images in the likeness of the world.

Yea, refusing that joy which would fill their souls, they fall down to their own god whose substance is that of an idol, which waxeth old and shall perish in Babylon, even Babylon the great, which shall fall.

Yea, because they do these things, the gates of hell prevail against them.

Wherefore, I the Lord, knowing the calamity which should come upon the inhabitants of the earth then, make these things known unto you;

Yea, and because of this knowledge, I the Lord your God will desperse the powers of darkness from before you by this calling upon my servant, like unto that calling with which I called my servant Joseph Smith, Jun.

And I will cause the heavens to shake for his good, and I will speak unto him that he may know all things whatsoever he desires of me, which are pertaining unto things of righteousness, from heaven;

And in faith believing in me shall he receive commandments for my name's glory.

And behold, thus saith the Lord God: as I command him so also give I commandments to others, even you.

Therefore, you need no longer suppose that you are not called to preach, for you are called, that ye should proclaim these things unto the world, which call shall inspire you, even as I have inspired him with his.

Wait no longer in all this but press forward until it is fulfilled;

And you shall employ my words which were written by the prophets with the intent to establish the cause of Zion,

That in this dispensation of the fulness of times I might gather together in one all things, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in me,7 who am Jesus Christ, your Lord.

For behold, the weak things of the world shall come forth in mighty power, founded upon my rock, which is my church, even that stone which was cut out of the mountain without hands;8

And they shall break down the mighty and strong ones who profess to belong to my church but have not known me,9 setting up a kingdom which shall break in pieces and consume all kingdoms and stand forever;10

That man should not counsel his fellow man, neither trust in the arm of flesh;

Therefore, let every man stand or fall, by himself, and not for another; or not trusting another,11 but let him work out his own salvation with fear and trembling before God,12 according to my gospel;

That every man, verily even you, might speak in the name of the Lord, knowing of a surety, even the Savior of the world. Behold, this is13 my doctrine for good.

Yea, remember the word of God, which saith by their works ye shall know them; for if their works be good, then they are good also.14

Behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.15

And now, I have heard and seen and know of my servant's diligence and his prayers and his weeping for Zion: that faith might increase in the earth.

And I have also heard and seen and know of your desires and your faith which is also increasing for Zion.

Therefore, behold, according to these, thine alms, will I cause that mine everlasting covenant might be established unto you, that you might keep the fulness of my gospel as I have commanded;

And he shall mourn for ner no longer, nor hold his peace, for the fulness of my gospel will be proclaimed by the weak and simple unto the ends of the world, and before kings and rulers--all by appealing unto my Spirit; and for this are his days of rejoicing come.

For I will forgive you of your sins with this commandment--that you remain steadfast in your minds in solemnity and the spirit of prayer, in bearing testimony to all the world of those things which are communicated unto you.16

Behold, I am God and have spoken it; these commandments are of me; therefore cleave unto me with all your heart, unto the remission of thy sins;

And I will manifest forth my blessings, that you may be my servants to assist in receiving my commandments, yea in bringing to light those things of which has been spoken, notwithstanding your weakness--

Yea, the translation of my work after the manner his workings with your language.

Behold, I say unto you, be patient until you shall attain a translation that is such that they might come to understanding.

Behold, this is your work and his work: that inasmuch as they err it might be made known, that they may keep my commandments;

And inasmuch as they seek wisdom with all their might, they might be instructed;

And inasmuch as they sin even in their mind, they might be chastened, that they might repent;

And inasmuch as they humble themselves with all their strength, they might be made strong;

And they shall be blessed to the obtaining of my word directly from on high, being endued with power from on high,17 that they may then declare my word, for then shall their tongue be loosed. For, behold, thus will I bless all those who labor in my vineyard.

And then, because you have desired it, you shall receive a mighty blessing, even my Spirit and my word of knowledge, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men, by shewing them things from former times that they might consider their likeness in latter times.18

And behold, and lo, after having been sealed,19 the record of the Nephites, which is my word which hath gone forth among the children of men, is also my word which shall now come forth among the children of men, which ye shall study to procure the greater things, if ye will receive them,20 believing on his words as he obtains them from that record:

Or, in other words, that which is now being given my servant to translate, is even that same record which my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., was given power to translate;

Yea, thou shalt continue in this work of translation until you shall have obtained all through me, yea through the mercy of God--

Even all which I shall grant unto the children of men in this generation by the comforter, which is the power of God.

And then shall all things be added thereto, even the complete manifestation of the Book of Mormon.

And there were never greater things made manifest than those which are written21 in that portion sealed up by the hand of Moroni.22

Behold, my son, thou art heir as was Hyrum, along with those to whom these commandments are given, that ye might have power to lay the foundation of this church for which ye have sought, even the kingdom of God:

And thou shalt bring it forth that all things might be added according to that which is just: out of obscurity and out of darkness.

Therefore, Build upon the only true rock: even that Jesus who was crucified by sinful men for the sins of the world: and the stone of Israel.23

Yea, the stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.24

Behold, this is my gospel, yea, the remission of sins unto the contrite heart. This is the only living church upon the face of the whole earth--

With which I, the Lord, am well pleased, speaking unto the church collectively and not individually, for there are those among you who profess to know my name25 and yet deny the spirit of revelation and the spirit of prophecy, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord.26

Wherefore it behooveth me that my servant should be ordained in a manner like unto Oliver Cowdery mine apostle ordained my servant Joseph Smith, Jun.;

Therefore, wo unto him who deneth the spirit of revelation, or the spirit of prophecy, for I the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance;

Nevertheless, he that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven;

And he that repents not, that denieth these things, from him shall be taken even the light which he has received; for my Spirit shall not always strive with man, saith the Lord of Hosts.

And when the Spirit ceaseth to strive with man then cometh speedy destruction, and this grieveth my soul.27

Wherefore, if ye will sin until ye are fully ripe ye shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord.28

Know ye not that ye are in the hands of God? Know ye not that he hath all power, and at his great command the earth shall be rolled together as a scroll?

Therefore, repent ye, and humble yourselves before him, lest he shall come out in justice against you--lest a remnant of the seed of Jacob shall go forth among you as a lion, and tear you in pieces, and there is none to deliver.29

And again, verily I say unto you, O inhabitants of the earth: I the Lord am willing to make these things known, which I have hitherto commanded to be treasured up in the heart, yea known unto all flesh.

And again, verily I say unto you, this shall be an ordinance unto my servant, even that he be an elder under the hands of one like unto Oliver Cowdery.

For I am no respecter of persons, and will that all men shall know, he being the first until the time cometh--yea, verily that day speedily cometh; the hour is not yet, but it nigh at hand--

When peace shall be taken from the earth, and the devil shall have power over his own dominion, which is when in my wisdom that you, verily you, shall go forth.

Behold, I speak unto all you who have good desires, even my saints over whom I the Lord shall have power.

And I shall reign in the midst of all who have thrust in their sickle, that they might be elders to reap when I shall come down in judgment upon Idumea, or the world.

Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This is my church; for I am the true and faithful one, who has given these commandments for you to search.

And the prophecies and promises which are in them witness that I am the life and the light of the world.

I am the same God, yesterday, today, and forever.30 What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, bearing my name.

Yea, I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.31

I am the same who came unto mine own, by my own voice, and mine own received me not; and, when I called again there was none of you to answer; yet my arm was not shortened at all that I could not redeem, neither my power to deliver.32

For verily, I come again the second time33 unto mine own, even those of this church, by the voice of my First Preacher, and again mine own receive me not; for they receive not the voice of my servant: It is the same.

Nevertheless, verily, verily, I say unto you: Behold, and lo, yet shall he be the First Preacher unto the church;

And he shall be the First Preacher before the world, yea to as many as receive me to be the Lord their God;

And he shall be the First Preacher before the Gentiles, for to them will I give power to become the sons of God, even to as many as the Spirit beareth record, and the record is true;

Yea, Thus saith the Lord God, Lo, lo! he shall be the First Preacher to the Jews also, even to them that believe on my name.

Therefore, again the second time,34 the stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes,35 for the truth abideth forever and ever. Amen, Amen, and Amen.

Schopenhauer
All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
