Seeking Spiritual Answers About Polygamy

Subject: Spiritual answers about POLYGAMY

I have been researching polygamy in the Muslim, Christian, Hebrew and Hindu religions.  I am personally opposed to it, although married to a man who actively practices, with a wife and child that he secured 8 years into our marriage.

Ironically, I lived with my parents in Dhahran for 6 years and Taif, SA for 2.  There I witnessed monogamous & polygamous marriages.

In my attempts to please him, I condoned or consented to the idea...but when faced with the true reality - I resisted wholly and expressed my problems clearly.

In the Bible I have read scriptures urging monogamy, yet many examples of polygamy.

In the Hindu religion, learning Yoga from a person who studied in India for many years, I understand that it is counter productive to self realization.  He was explaining to me about the union of man and woman, from a scientific spiritual perspective.  He further explains that polygamy mixes all 3 auras together and that that too was unhealthy, spiritually.

Personally, I have a problem accepting that it is possible for my husband to wholly and truly love me and another woman at the same time.  In addition, I find myself struggling between wanting to be close to him and being repulsed by knowing that he is having sex with someone else.

My goal is to do what I can to stay married, if it is spiritually feasible.  However, in its current status, my marriage is counterproductive and prohibiting to my spiritual growth - I think.

Is it possible that the best thing for me to do is remove myself from his life and begin my separate journey to happiness.

An even larger dilemma for me is, what next...I know for a fact that the Bible condemns divorces after Christ's return.  And if I left would I not be rendering evil for evil, or allowing one situation to cause me to sin.

Moreover, we are in perilous times, should I learn to decrease the importance of this issue and remain with this man, whom I believe will be used by the Lord to have great impact on the world's spiritual growth and change.  And will be able to protect myself and the children we have together.

Over the years I have experienced physical manifestations of my spiritual pains...what do I do about them?

Lastly, please know that my trust and faith is in the Lord and His Son - Jesus Christ.  I know that they pass wisdom to men THRU men.  I look forward to your logical, wise, spiritual input.

PEACE AND BLESSINGS!

Schopenhauer
All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
