bullet  Independent Observations of SLC Tornado Symbolism

I find it interesting that the sudden whirlwind of the Lord struck:

1) The homosexual grove of Sodom, the Sun (destroyed, by the way);
2) The temple of man, the Delta Center (Delta is an interesting word in ancient history);
3) The merchants in the outer court of the temple of man, the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market;
4) The hanging gardens of Babylon, the new Assembly Hall;
5) The park of Gomorrah, notorious for homosexuality and debauchery (though the veterans memorials were untouched);
5) The avenues of the heathen, also notorious for their anti-freedom, immoral sentiment and activism.

The whirlwind just touched the Temple Square, perhaps showing again that the green tree can be scathed.  Perhaps also warning that the dry trees will be burned without repentance?  In addition, it stopped just short of the steps of the state capitol, as if indicating the impending doom of the Temple of Samaria if (and when) we do not repent.

There was A TORNADO IN DOWNTOWN SALT LAKE CITY on August 11, 1999, appearing at about 12:46 p.m. A big one. F-2, which means winds between 113 and 157 mph. Tornadoes are rare in desert Utah. From 1950-1999, there have been 86 reported tornadoes in Utah, plus 19 waterspouts. In 1993, there was a F3 tornado in the Uintas, and six F2 tornadoes between 1950 and 1999. Three occurred along the Wasatch Front. National Weather Service meteorologist William Alder said "we never had a tornado this strong in a metropolitan area" in the state and that this tornado was "big for Utah. I've never seen anything like it in my 35 years [here]." THIS IS A HIGHLY UNUSUAL TORNADO, VERY SYMBOLIC on several counts.

First, this day is the day of THE ECLIPSE. Casting darkness across Europe in the heart of day, the last solar eclipse of the millennium stirred a 70-mile-wide patch of human wonder along an arc of darkness, sweeping across the Earth's face at more than 1,700 mph, from the English Channel to the Indian subcontinent. This convergence of two rare events is significant. The tornado in Salt Lake City, and the eclipse in Europe are most certainly related. Although two days later, Friday the 13th, 1999 is the "Day of Destiny" according to the Mayan Calendar.

Second, PERHAPS THERE IS A MESSAGE IN THIS FOR US FROM GOD: D&C 112:23 Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has come corrupt before my face. D&C 112:24 Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord. D&C 112:25 And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;

Third, the 3-mile Southwest to Northeast PATH OF THE TORNADO IS VERY SYMBOLIC. It is interesting that within 9 minutes the sudden whirlwind of the Lord struck:

1) Down just the other side of the Delta Center events center near 200 South 1000 West. The homosexual grove of Sodom, the Sun Club tavern had its roof blown off and was destroyed;

2) The temple of man, the 19.911-seat Delta Center (Delta is an interesting word in ancient history) had its roof severely damaged, windows exploded and power poles were snapped. The Delta Center is a hub of idolatry -- worshiping sports and singers and such more than God. By the Delta Center, one parking lot had almost 40 cars with windows totally obliterated. Car bodies showed dents and scrapes. Live electrical wires were laying on the ground, several hanging down at eye level;

3) The tornado then slammed into the Wyndham Hotel, which had all 381 rooms filled for a convention, and was a checkerboard of blown-out windows. It completely demolished one of two convention tents across the street -- a symbol of materialism. The merchants in the outer court of the temple of man, the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. Within seconds the giant tent pavillion on the corner of 300 west and South Temple was reduced to skeletal rafters. One person was killed and dozens more were injured;

4) After that, the tornado left the ground, sparing the Family History Center, which was in its path, and sparing Temple Square from major structural damage, though it was just on the right of its immediate path. However, some roofing was torn off the Church Museum.

Temple & Utility Worker Silhouetted The whirlwind just touched the Temple Square, perhaps showing again that the green tree can be scathed. Perhaps also warning that the dry trees will be burned without repentance? Three large trees were uprooted and scores of limbs broken. One tree inside Temple Square was leaning out over the wall with limbs so low you couldn't walk beneath them. The whirlwind did blow out two large south-facing windows in the church's North Visitor Center, which framed an enormous statue of Jesus Christ, called the "Christus." Around Temple square it really was a different story. Huge limbs, some 12" or more in diameter, had broken off trees and lay across a half dozen cars, smashing the roofs and shattering windows;

5)It knocked down a massive 200-foot "stork" crane, ripped down scaffolding and scattered building materials at least a mile away, at the massive LDS Assembly Hall under construction. The center tower still stands, and the back half that holds all the weights. The front part broke off and is resting on the roof of the Assembly Hall. On west side, a piece of the granite facing has a triangular piece cracked out, 8" wide, two feet long. All the fencing and barricades are blown over like mowed down grass. The new Assembly Hall represents religious idolatry, worshiping the church and its leaders more than God. The hanging gardens of Babylon, the new Assembly Hall;

6) Up State Street, giant trees were uprooted and toppeled over blocking the whole road. The park of Gomorrah, Memory Grove, notorious for homosexuality and debauchery (though the veterans memorials were untouched) was hard hit;

7) The tornado's path then went to the right of the state capital, giving it a shot across the bow. It stopped just short of the steps of the state capitol, as if indicating the impending doom of the Temple of Samaria if (and when) we do not repent.

8) Then the tornado headed for the avenues where some ritzy posh homes are located, lifting sections of roofs from houses and completely tearing off the roof of the home on the highest tier at 18th Avenue. Again, a symbol of materialism and lifting up in pride of one over another. The avenues of the heathen, also notorious for their anti-freedom, immoral sentiment and activism. 121 homes were damaged, 34 made uninhabitable.

9) It skirts across the street, knocking down a power line before disappearing into the unpopulated foothills at about 12:55 p.m.

The Times of the Gentiles is coming to an end?

All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
